Youth Director

SUMMARY:

The role of the Youth Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor is to lead the youth ministry (7th-12th
grades) at the Vineyard Church of Davenport in accordance with our vision and values. The
Youth Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor is responsible for creating a safe, caring environment
that supplements the family’s efforts to provide a spiritual foundation that will help our
students grow in their relationship with God and help them grow into a fully devoted follower
of Jesus Christ.

This role will be classified as coordinator, director, or pastor depending on the education and
experience of the candidate. If the candidate has limited ministry experience/education or is
new to a Vineyard church, they would start as Youth Group Coordinator. If the candidate has
some relevant education and experience in a Vineyard church, they could potentially start as
Youth Director. If a candidate has significant education, experience, and has already served as
a pastor in another Vineyard church, it is possible that they could start as Youth Pastor.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Plan and prepare for a weekly youth group meeting.

This involves the Youth Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor having a lesson for each
youth meeting. This could be done using a curriculum or the Youth Group
Coordinator/Director/Pastor can come up with a topic themselves. Planning and
preparation will also include recruiting and communicating with volunteers, planning for
small group discussions, game/group activity, worship, and ministry. Preparation for the
youth group meeting will also include setup/tear down of tables/chairs as needed and
making sure that audio/visual equipment is ready to go.

-Lead and execute a weekly youth group meeting.

The Youth Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor will be responsible for leading and
executing the youth group meeting. This involves either leading or delegating leadership
for each portion of the meeting. The Youth Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor should
help visitors to the group feel welcome and create an inclusive atmosphere. The Youth
Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor will develop relationships with the students to build
trust and encourage the students in their journey of following Jesus. The Youth Group
Coordinator/Director/Pastor is responsible for managing student behaviors and
reducing disruptions. The Youth Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor is responsible for
creating a safe environment and handling any injuries or emergencies that may arise in
an appropriate manner.

-Communicate with Parents/Guardians

The Youth Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor will need to communicate with parents
about youth group meetings and events. The Youth Group Coordinator/Director/Pastor
will coordinate with their pastoral supervisor for any pastoral issues that need to be
brought to a parents/ guardian’s attention regarding their children.
