IOWA FLOODING UPDATE:
As of June 22, 2008
STATUS: Mercy Response has reached Cedar Rapids. We have assessed the Cedar Rapids area and have began gathering names of those in need of assistance.

AREA UPDATE
DES MOINES
- 300+ homes flooded
- June 14 levee break intensified flooding to city
- VCC-Des Moines church staff has not been able to reach the affected area to determine the extent of damage
CEDAR FALLS/ WATERLOO
- Approx. 1500 homes flooded
- Water has receded in Cedar Falls but there are several small communities along the river to which the extent of damage is unknown at this point.
- Waterloo Vineyard has not sustained flood damage
- Heartland Vineyard has not sustained damage. This church has offered to host teams as the relief effort gets underway.
CEDAR RAPIDS
- 5000+ homes flooded; 25,000 people have been displaced
- Homeowners have been allowed back into neighborhoods. Many families have begun the process of gutting their homes.
- The Father's House Vineyard was not damaged and is set up to host teams
IOWA CITY
- Flood waters have receded
- Number of homes affected is unknown at this point
- Downtown Iowa City and the University of Iowa have sustained extensive damage
DAVENPORT
- Currently there is flooding along the Mississippi River corridor. Flood waters are expected to rise over the next two days
- The Davenport Vineyard has not been affected at this time
SOUTH OF DAVENPORT TO ST. LOUIS
- This area is expecting heavy flooding along the Mississippi River corridor with several levee breaks possible
